Language Matters: Practical tools and tips for learner engagement on the personal and social impacts of genetics
This session is presented by the Personal Genetics Education Project (pgEd) of Harvard Medical School, dedicated to increasing awareness and conversation on genetics across all communities. For the past 16 years, pgEd’s dedicated team of scientists, social scientists, and educators has led workshops in schools, libraries, museums, places of worship, conferences, the halls of US Congress, youth groups, and community spaces. pgEd leaders will share our approach and experiences engaging with people from many walks of life - including various personal identities, cultural and faith traditions, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds, histories, and worldviews. We aim to provide practical tools and tips that are relevant to genetics educators training the next generation of healthcare professionals. Specifically, this program will include:
