First-Time Attendee Award

APHMG is committed to a vibrant, inclusive community of genetics and genomics educators. Funding can be the biggest barrier for people new to the organization, so this award helps new program directors, course directors, junior faculty, and emerging leaders join us for the first time.

The award includes

  • Complimentary meeting registration, including meals, receptions, Thursday's excursion, and the train dinner
  • Three nights at The Chattanoogan Hotel

Who can apply

  • First-time attendees of the APHMG Annual Meeting (preference for junior faculty)
  • Able to attend the full meeting, May 11–14

How the committee decides

The APHMG Membership Committee reviews and votes on each application, looking at:

  • Interest in genetics and genomics education
  • Potential to engage with and contribute to APHMG
  • Institutional and professional diversity

If there are more highly qualified applicants than awards, a lottery may be used.

How to apply

Fill out the short online application by Monday, March 1. Along with your role, institution, and contact details, it asks for a statement of 250 words or less on:

  • Why you want to attend the APHMG Annual Meeting
  • How attending will help your professional development and your commitment to genetics education

You'll get a confirmation email right away and hear back by Monday, March 8.
