Call for abstracts for the APHMG 2024 Meeting!

Submission Deadline: MARCH 1  (11:59 PM Eastern Time)

The APHMG Annual Workshop and Special Interest Group meetings will take place during the APHMG Annual Meeting. 

Each of the APHMG Special Interest Groups (SIG) (Residency Program Directors, Medical School Course Directors, and Laboratory Fellowship Program Directors) will have individual meetings designed for discussion, problem solving and the development and sharing of common resources.

APHMG invites you to submit an abstract for a session at the Medical School Course Directors-SIG session during the AMPHG Annual Meeting.  The deadline for abstract submissions is March 1.

Who Can Submit

  • APHMG members are encouraged to submit abstracts.  
  • Non-members may also submit proposals for consideration.  
  • If your proposal is accepted for session presentation, you must agree to attend in person to present your work.

Submission Instructions

Please submit your poster abstract of up to 400 words using the form linked above, or by scanning the QR code on the left.

Enter your contact information, presenting author and title, then upload a file containing your ENTIRE abstract (including title, all authors and affilitations, body text and acknowledgements).

Suggested abstract format based on Glassick's criteria for scholarship in teaching and learning:

  • Purpose 
  • Background 
  • Methods
  • Results 
  • Discussion/Conclusions 

Suggested Topics

Suggested topics for submission to the Course Directors-SIG session:

A. Active Learning – engaging medical students.   Examples: Novel approaches to interactive learning;  Life-long learning (master adapter learner); Self-directed learning

B. Integration of Genetics Teaching and LearningExamples: Integration of genetics, and molecular biology; in Inter-Professional Education (IPE); Assessment and teaching strategies focused on integration

C. Education Research Methodologies.   Examples:  Designing Quantitative, Qualitative or Mixed Methods Research Studies

D. Scientific Updates on Emerging Medical Areas

E.  Professional Development, Student Assessment and/or Remediation.  Examples: Instruction on new teaching and research skills; Career development for promotion and tenure through educational scholarship

F. Distance/Remote Instruction.   Examples: Best practices; How do teaching/learning goals change?; How do we support student learning in a virtual environment?; How does assessment change in a virtual learning environment?; Student engagement in a virtual learning environment?; Student wellness

G. Program Evaluation.   Examples: What are the outcomes of your instructional program (course, block, etc…)?;  Program design with outcomes in mind; What are the values of the various stake holders for your program?
